Water chemistry

The numbers we test on every visit

Healthy pool water is a balance. These are the targets our technicians work to for hospitality pools.

ParameterTargetWhy it matters
pH level
7.2 – 7.6Comfort for eyes and skin, and lets chlorine work properly.
Free chlorine
1 – 3 ppmKills bacteria and algae. Higher for heavy bather loads.
Total alkalinity
80 – 120 ppmBuffers pH so it does not swing up and down.
Calcium hardness
200 – 400 ppmProtects plaster and tiles from etching or scaling.
Water temperature
26 – 30 °CComfortable for guests; warmer water needs more chlorine.
